In 1996, a group of my buddies and I formed a partnership to become licensed commodities pool operators on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
One of my partners had previously spent time on the exchange and had personal relationships with several top traders… we made a deal with the largest oil trader, and set up a hedge fund.
Even though our track record was excellent, and we made money, some of us lost our nerve when we found out that our trader was seeing an astrologer… so we quit and liquidated the fund.
The remaining partners went on to become multi and centi-millionaires!
